I’m pretty sure she might be my favorite customer of the year. Gmail is showing a collective email count between her and I of 30… gulp, I hope I didn’t wear her out! She’s wearing these pieces to her son’s wedding in October. The colors are perfect for fall… rich topaz tones and gold. Lovely, as was she to work with. Thanks Robin!

I want to start regularly sharing some of the custom work I do. It’s a great way to get inspired and to see what different pieces look like when set with color. I only use Swarovski Crystal which is the best crystal available and produces a brilliant sparkle. The color ranges offered are sometimes dizzying to keep up with and they don’t make every color in every size and shape. I can quickly tell you over the phone or through email the options for a particular piece. Light Topaz is the most requested color as it is beautiful with the champagne color found in many dress accents. Amy from NY ordered the Sylvia Bobby Pin with a light topaz and topaz mix. I used the topaz crystal sparingly to add a bit of depth and richness to the overall color. Amy and I discussed her options over the phone and then I emailed her this picture before setting the crystal on the rest of her bobby pins. Luckily she loved it!

Above is the Dogwood Small Comb set with light topaz crystal. This is by far the piece that gets ordered the most with color for some reason and the color of choice is almost always light topaz. It’s very pretty especially for spring and summer. The flowers are hand painted with white enamel, but we can custom mix pretty much any color- ivory, light pink, light blue, and black (yes, black) are the most requested custom colors. I’ll post the next custom paint job that comes in…

Enjoy and as always please let me know if you have any questions! : -)

Are you planning on adding color to your hair jewelry?

<a href="http://www.thetiarablog.com/wp-admin/We have several designs that are either partially or fully hand painted with lustrous enamel paint. Painting- anything really is one of my favorite tasks to do in the studio. I love enamel painted flowers for many reasons the first of which is that I get to pick up a paint brush! The final effect of painting can create a sheer layer with bits of textured metal showing underneath such as the Dogwood Single Flower Comb, pictured above, or the effect can be a lustrous opaque and shiny surface such as Plumeria Comb, also pictured above. The new Plumeria collection has been a instant favorite- creamy paint studded with Swarovski crystal. Gorgeous!!!! A customer recently said she needed several Plumeria flowers to get through a Hawaiian vacation. Thank you I love comments like that!!! Our standard paint color is white, but if you ask... we can offer a variety of colors the most common of which is ivory (I wore ivory painted Lilac Hair Ornaments for my own wedding), but we also can paint green, pale yellow, pale pink, and pale blue just to name other common colors. We will be happy to send color swatches of any color you might be interested in! Have a lovely weekend! The “Love to Love Me” headband & matching bobby pins (not shown) were created for just the nicest person I’ve had the pleasure of working with in a very long time- Elizabeth from Los Angeles. So THANK YOU Elizabeth for allowing me create something truly beautiful for you!
