Luxurious & New Feather Headpieces

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

feathers1

I have been hard at work on a new collection featuring FEATHERS. I love the mass that this soft and billowy material can create. And… the movement that is created with each step you take is luxurious to me- a soft flutter and swoosh, swoosh as you walk. Ahhh, I just love little things like this!

There are a few cool features in this collection. The two top pieces, the Sabrina Comb and the Jackie’s Feathers Comb, both can be sent back to us after the wedding for feather removal. You’ll be left with a gorgeous comb to wear many times over and serve as a reminder of your special day!

The 3rd piece down, the Chantilly Lace Comb has a removable brooch. Again, wear this over and over. I LOVE idea this so much!

The bottom piece, the Clara Bow Headband is a lovely flapper like piece. The feathers sit a few inches above the right ear for a soft and glamorous look. This detail could actually be attached to a comb if you would prefer.

I love this new collection! It’s an affordable way to incorporate a larger headpiece and in a few of the designs have something left to treasure for years afterward.

Have you thought about wearing feathers for your wedding or rehearsal dinner?

A Sparkling Duo – The Starry Night Comb Set

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

starynight1I am really excited about the Starry Night Comb Set which  is actually two pieces- one large flower and one small flower each on its’ own comb! I think they are meant to be together so I photographed them clustered and they will be sold together as a set. The finish is a smoke gray enamel with touches of brass left to show through. Other enamel colors are available such as white and custom colors are available upon request. As always silver and gold plating are an option for those who don’t like the painted look. As you can see the petals are covered in Swarovski crystal making a really beautiful and sparkly presentation!

A Beautiful Look- The Loose Rolled Ponytail

I have this beautiful photo that I’ve wanted to show for a while now. The natural, romantic look was created by the Brides local team using our headpieces. Yes, I said headpieces, plural, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED the concept and their use of the pieces. I love it for a few other reasons also: First of all look at this glamorous and dramatic rolled ponytail. Wow she must have really long locks! I love how the hair drapes a little over the ear adding to the loose slightly casual feel. Wouldn’t this look be beautiful for a beach ceremony!?

The piece you can really see is the above pictured North Star Hair Ornament. It’s a very pretty sparkly piece chunk full of Swarovski crystal. The placement in the photo is beautiful even without the addition of the other piece. I have this piece made in all pearl but haven’t gotten around to adding it to the collection. It’s beautiful too- I try to get that added soon to show.

The piece that you can just see peeking over the side of the models head is the Honeysuckle Rose Headpiece. It reminds me of a garden- a lovely romantic garden- another place this look would be well suited for! The Honeysuckle Rose is one that can be worn in front as shown here or in the back above, say a loose rolled ponytail, or a big chignon. It’s really one of my favorites, the detail of which are somewhat painstaking to make.

The idea of combining two or more pieces to create a look is not often explored, but I think if done carefully it can be beautiful!

Tell me: Do you have any plans for unusual placement or combinations of headpieces?

Enamel Flowers

We have several designs that are either partially or fully hand painted with lustrous enamel paint. Painting- anything really is one of my favorite tasks to do in the studio. I love enamel painted flowers for many reasons the first of which is that I get to pick up a paint brush! The final effect of painting can create a sheer layer with bits of textured metal showing underneath such as the Dogwood Single Flower Comb, pictured above, or the effect can be a lustrous opaque and shiny surface such as Plumeria Comb, also pictured above.

The new Plumeria collection has been a instant favorite- creamy paint studded with Swarovski crystal. Gorgeous!!!! A customer recently said she needed several Plumeria flowers to get through a Hawaiian vacation. Thank you I love comments like that!!!

Our standard paint color is white, but if you ask… we can offer a variety of colors the most common of which is ivory (I wore ivory painted Lilac Hair Ornaments for my own wedding), but we also can paint green, pale yellow, pale pink, and pale blue just to name other common colors. We will be happy to send color swatches of any color you might be interested in!

Have a lovely weekend!

Perfect for a winter wedding the new & very sparkly Stardust Vine evokes a beautiful vintage elegance. It can be placed in the back adorning a chignon or placed asymmetrically & flat in the front.

Enjoy the long weekend & travel safe!
