What Our Customers Are Saying

Beautiful stuff on this website. It can be sorta pricey, but definitely worth it. Their work is quality work and still a bit cheaper than ordering from a bridal shop. Plus they can totally customize the work they do. For example, they made my tiara into a back piece to be tucked into my hair. — Racheal from MD

Bridal & Beyond – J.Crew Weddings Collection on Madison Avenue

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

J.Crew is one of my happy places. SO… to hear they’ve opened a store on Madison Avenue in NYC is very exciting. And, OH MY  just looking at these photos makes me want to design a room in my house dedicated to pure prettiness. Love the orange screen peeking out in the background of the first picture. The gowns this season are really very luscious- beautiful textured fabric in soft colors. If you’re in the New York area you can now stop by at 769 Madison Avenue. If not you can view the collection here.

The Little White Feather Dress

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

jcrew_feather_dress

I love the whimsy of feathers and have been very happy to see them popping up everywhere this season. I was so pleasantly taken when I saw this version of the little white dress from J.Crew. The Gwen dress is a perfect combination of some of my favorite things:  a tailored cut of tweed and layers of chiffon, organza and tulle beaded with glass beads, sequins, and of course feathers. I would add a single Sabrina Bobby Pin from our Naugi collection to compliment the hair. This combination- the whimsical feathers, the tailored dress but not too serious length, the slight glitz of the jewels is perfect as maybe a second dress for late in the reception-LOVE it!

Naugi Paloma Collection Paired with the Camille Gown by J.Crew

This post is about my chic (and super sweet) customer Alanna who is planning on wearing every piece of Naugi jewelry pictured above. She knows exactly which elements she wants in her jewelry and gown- casual, flowing, bold accents, beautiful- and she has her look pretty much pulled together. She’s wearing her long hair down and unadorned and wanted to really glam up her jewelry. I think she can easily pull it off at her beach side wedding in July. She’s  incorporating a subtle makeup palette and is very interested in how her jewelry will reflect the light on the beach. So interesting (I loved working with her!!). Here’s her J.Crew gown which is another reason I love her and wanted to write a post about her!!

jcrew_alanna

The Camille gown is perfect for the beach and for dressing up with jewelry. We’re making the Paloma Necklace much longer than pictured above so that the bottom crystals fall just above the deep v in the neckline of the gown. She wearing the Paloma Long Earrings as well as the Paloma Bracelet on one wrist and the Alina Bracelet on the other. I think she will be stunningly beautiful and I can’t wait to see photos! Alanna very kindly said I could turn her look into a blog post, thanks!!

Do you have any aspects such as light that are important to you in creating your look?

Swimming into Summer with Anthropologie & J.Crew

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

It’s been a slow week around here for blogging and working (we’ll be back to shipping every day on Monday). The weather has been mostly warm and sunny, and because it’s been a while since I’ve taken a real vacation, I’ve taken a little time off each day. I am now in full blown need of a summer beach vacation after this little taste of sun and relaxation! Before I can even think about where to go I am of course picking a new swim suit. The past two seasons one piece suits have been quite popular, which works out perfect since I’m a one piece kind of girl! This year details such as cut outs and fabric twists are big at my favorites Anthropologie and J.Crew. Here are my top three picks:

anthro_navy

I love the fabric ruching on the sides and the glam key hole cut out on this Deck Work Suit by Anthropologie. I also love the navy color…

anthro_twist

Throw on shorts or a skirt and walk around in this “shirt like” Goddess Sekhmet Suit, again from Anthropologie. I actually like the dark slate color and adore the fabric twists and halter.

J.Crew swim suits last forever and always fit great. I love the Solid Ruched V Bandeau Tank in navy for the unexpected open V and of course the color! It’s probably my favorite and it’s on sale right now for less than half of the first two suits. I can’t wait to hit the beach this summer and had so much fun this week dreaming about fun and sun!

I’ll be back next week with some gorgeous new jewelry from the summer Naugi line.

Have a great weekend!

Bling your Gown with a Gorgeous Naugi Brooch

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Last week I showed a few Vera Wang gowns featuring fabulously placed brooches. I have brooches pinned everywhere from hand bags to coat lapels. One of my very favorite suggestions for brides is incorporating a brooch somewhere on your wedding day; on your gown, hand bag, after party dress, or you can even pin a brooch in your hair. The reason I love this idea is that you can keep the brooch as a keepsake and reminder of your wedding to wear on special occasions and anniversaries for years to come. I rarely make a headpiece that I don’t think would be a good brooch also. We have a gorgeous line of heirloom quality brooches. Here are just a few ways to place them:

brooch_lillian_neckline

I’m starting with what is possibly my favorite of the photos- above is the Lillian Grace Brooch pinned on the lightly beaded neckline of a dress. Take a look at those pear crystal petals by Swarovski! I wouldn’t always suggest a pairing a brooch with beading but I love this. It’s delicate and feminine and the silver toned beading reference the silver of the brooch.

brooch_garden_waist

I made the Garden Party Brooch several years ago for my sister-in-law. For her I made it with light topaz crystal which we pinned on a champagne colored silk band which finished the strapless neck line of her beautiful dress. This brooch design became an instant favorite and one I love to suggest placing of the waist of a gown, shown here, as well. It dresses up last seasons knee length strapless beach dress from J.Crew very nicely.

Here the Lillian Grace Brooch is pinned on the waist. I love the graceful swoop of the leafy design. It’s as perfect pinned in this direction on the waist as it was one the above pictured neck line. LOVE!

brooch_lola

Lastly is the center placed Lola Brooch on this deep v-neck dress again by J.Crew (yep, it’s a favorite)! I love how the circular brooch emulates the embroidered circles on the dress. Sadly, the only time I wore this dress I hadn’t yet designed Lola. This is actually a post for another day, but combining 2 Lolas on the hip of a gown is gorgeous and a very popular way to order and wear this design!

Tell me: Are you planning on wearing a brooch on your wedding day?
