After designing the Rosaline Hair Ornament below I envisioned it paired with a flowing romantic gown like this Amsale. It’s a perfect compliment to the floral embroidered bodice detail. I almost attached this design asymmetrically to a headband…I couldn’t decide, still might. It looks very chic worn in flat in front.  For me there are always too many possibilities (thus buying more than one wedding gown, three in fact)!

We had a photo shoot last Friday with the beautiful Ashley and so I am excited to show the first of the new fall line for Naugi! The piece featured in this romantic loosely rolled chignon is the Leaves of Grass Comb. I meant to have two of this piece on hand for the shoot because that’s how I saw it when I was designing it, as a duo of combs grouped together, but I ended up with only one and was still quite pleased. I love how the design dips into the rolls of hair in the above picture. Ashley was fun to work with and endured my poking and prodding in her hair for hours. I’ll show several pictures from the shoot this week and will start working on getting the new line up on our web site. The Leaves of Grass Comb is available now- here’s a closer look.

I am so excited to be introducing a new chandelier earring Secret Love! I’ve had this new design sitting on the shelf for a few months now just waiting to be photographed on a white background. I think photography may be another post all together which I will start thinking about…let me know if you have any specific questions about photographing jewelry (not that I’m an expert, but I do have a ton of experience).

Back to the earrings…they are just beautiful with the perfect weight and swing. I’d say they are a medium length at 2 1/4″ and would serve as the perfect compliment to a gown with subtle detailing.

I have been hard at work on a new collection featuring FEATHERS. I love the mass that this soft and billowy material can create. And… the movement that is created with each step you take is luxurious to me- a soft flutter and swoosh, swoosh as you walk. Ahhh, I just love little things like this!

There are a few cool features in this collection. The two top pieces, the Sabrina Comb and the Jackie’s Feathers Comb, both can be sent back to us after the wedding for feather removal. You’ll be left with a gorgeous comb to wear many times over and serve as a reminder of your special day!

The 3rd piece down, the Chantilly Lace Comb has a removable brooch. Again, wear this over and over. I LOVE idea this so much!

The bottom piece, the Clara Bow Headband is a lovely flapper like piece. The feathers sit a few inches above the right ear for a soft and glamorous look. This detail could actually be attached to a comb if you would prefer.

I love this new collection! It’s an affordable way to incorporate a larger headpiece and in a few of the designs have something left to treasure for years afterward.

Although there’s a definite chill in the air and we’ve even seen some snow here in the mid-west, there are quite a few new sparkly blooms to show you! Today I’ll show off these 2 new very delicate & feminine tulle flowers. There are still warm weather destination weddings to think about & should we dare to think ahead to spring? I would even pair the larger sparkling Aster flower with a winter gown as it has an icy delicate quality. I love Rosebud too as its design is slightly smaller, perfect for an “ear tuck”.

The flowers are hand made of layer upon layer of sheer tulle and are pretty worn alone or cluster 2 of the same style together for more drama. The tulle color options are well, abundant- white, diamond white (shown), ivory, light pink, light blue, light purple, pale green, red, pale yellow, gray, black. The crystal too comes in many colors, so someone please pair black tulle with jet crystal?? I may have to go ahead and do that myself for a Christmas party this weekend! : -) I’ll be back next week with a story about our new enamel flowers- glossy white and studded with pearl and crystal!

I love questions from our customers- anything from “can you make this piece with light pink crystal” to “here’s my gown & what do you think?”. I love making connections & feeling like I helped to make a situation easy and happy. I recently had the opportunity to help a customer & the end result is definitely worth sharing! Jill wanted to wear a jeweled piece in her hair for her wedding that she could re-use in a slightly different way for a special celebration that will take place after her wedding. This celebration is for friends & family who could not attend the couples destination wedding & so the while the gathering will be celebrating their marriage it will be more informal. So! How can we get two different uses out of one design? I had already designed the Orchard Blossom Back Piece to have a central detachable part & Jill was the perfect customer to test out my idea. The large center flower has a small comb of its own & slides in & out of the design very easily. Voila! Jill will be wearing a low gathered twist of hair with the Orchard Blossom Back Piece tucked in asymmetrically for the wedding & will pull out the center blossom to slide into her hair which she will wear down & pulled up on one side for the second celebration.

I love the idea that the some portion of a piece can be worn for years afterward as a reminder of something very special. I have a brooch that I made for my own wedding 5 years ago that I wear several times a year. When I am complimented on it I love saying “thank you, I wore this my wedding day”! This detachable concept translates well to several pieces in the line. What’s next? More pieces with detachable combs, brooches, & even earrings. Pieces that work in more ways than one adding a functional component I think we all appreciate right now & deepen memories as you are able to wear the jewelry for years to come.

It looks modern placed flat & off to the side in the front, or tucked in the side of a low gathered chignon.
